How to Create a Bright Boho Look in Photoshop

February 25, 2020

Learn how to create a warm, bright and airy filter for your photos. All with just two layers. This Photoshop tutorial will show you how to use the Vibrance adjustment to create a light and airy effect and a solid color layer to give it a warm orange tint.

Step 1

Open the photo into Photoshop. Here's the image that we'll be starting with for this Photoshop tutorial.

Step 2

In the Adjustments panel (Window > Adjustments), click on the Vibrance adjustment.

Step 3

The Properties panel should appear for you to enter the settings. Enter -50 for the Vibrance and +15 for the Saturation. This will give your photo a clean, bright and airy look.

Note: If you don't see the Properties panel, go to Window > Properties.

Step 4

Next, go to the Layers panel and click on the New Adjustment Layer button. Select Solid Color.

The Color Picker tool will appear. It doesn't matter what setting you use right now so just click OK.

Step 5

In the Layers panel, set the blending mode to Hue. This will make it only affect the hue (color) but not the brightness or saturation. You'll see the effect in the next step.

Step 6

Doubleclick on the thumbnail of the Color Fill layer.

Pick a warm orange color. Usually, a color fill layer will fill your document with the color you've chosen. But because we set the blending mode to Hue in the previous step, this layer only affects the color. Click OK when you're ready for the next step.

Step 7

The orange color tint is too strong. To bring back some of the original colors, lower the opacity to around 50%.

Here's how the image looks like before and after. I hope you liked this Photoshop tutorial. As you can see, we were able to accomplish this with only two layers!
